A fair amount of early Windows games of this era (eg Fury3, Shadow Master) were programed in this way.Biffman 101https://www.blogger.com/profile/10163763573158975266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4423256436225847966.post-58116019446237746742022-03-12T20:47:55.263+00:002022-03-12T20:47:55.263+00:00How can I hide the menu bar during gameplay? If I recall, I came upon the same issues as you but didn't spend too much time on it as the DDraw image upscaled nicely.

I'm currently testing with a newer version of DxWnd which may look promising so check back here often.Biffman 101https://www.blogger.com/profile/10163763573158975266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4423256436225847966.post-26806182826435709442022-02-19T13:54:46.671+00:002022-02-19T13:54:46.671+00:00Does anyone know why the screen goes all grey when...Does anyone know why the screen goes all grey when you swap from 'Direct Draw' into 'Direct 3D' mode in the device menu?

Surely 'Direct 3D mode' would look a lot nicer?

Is this down to a setting that needs to be changed in DxwWnd?

You CAN run the game in Direct 3D mode by bypassing DxWnd and just clicking on 'Virtua Cop 2\DxWnd\VC2\PPJ2DD.EXE' directly but the game runs in a small window.

Would be great to play this fullscreen in Direct 3D mode if anyone please knows how to!! :)Gazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16870241486193827867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4423256436225847966.post-26541786358104632852021-12-14T00:26:23.575+00:002021-12-14T00:26:23.575+00:00Thank you for this brings back so much memories fr...Thank you for this brings back so much memories from the arcarde! Now I see where I got that faster-than-my-brain triggerfinger twitch move I sometimes execute without thinking.

Agreed, the camera mobing by itself can really mess with your aim. And those "Somebody help me!" civvies are such a drag XD

Some comments on the ChamberNotes included with the game:

I'm not sure how I did it, but I got it running without a hitch on my system. I did not touch DxWnd for that, I just messed around with the video settings in the game itself, that you can access via the file menu using ALT. First I got some weird results, but then suddenly it started to work, also on a clean boot.

It did run on the wrong monitor though. I have some issues with Windows being confused about what my primary monitor is. This can probably be fixed using DxWnd, but I just edited the /DxWnd/VC2.dxw file and changed monitorid0 from 0 to 1.Dr Siemerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09962944853744235180noreply@blogger.com
