MONTHLY 5 - February 2022

Look what we have this February! The month of love ends by meeting the one true Archangel (2002 Metropolis Software House), a fantasy action-adventure with role-playing elements originally published by JoWood. If that doesn't take your fancy, join the cult in Black Sect (1990-1993 Lankhor) a series of dark adventures fan-translated from the language of love (French) into English. Once you're done there, head down into some dungeons with Hexx: Heresy of the Wizard (1994 Psygnosis) where a lot of role-playing is going on. Perhaps the sex-craved antics of the sweet Transvestites from Transexual Transylvania is more up your alley in Richard O'Brien's adventurous Rocky Interactive Horror Show (1999 On-Line Entertainment & Druidcrest Ltd). What better way to end the month than by shooting your load in the vibrant first-person-shooter Shadow Master (1998 Psygnosis).

Not only this, but there are a few updates to announce too! Virtua Cop 2 and Rebel Moon Rising have been updated for better compatibility. Enjoy!

MONTHLY 5 - JANUARY 2022

I have an eclectic bunch of games to talk about in the first Monthly 5 of 2022. There's the family-friendly collection of activities in The 3D Adventures of Sailor Moon (1997 SNaoko Takeuchi/Kodansha, TOEI Animation) and some less-kiddy thievery in the heist adventure The Clue! (1994 NEO Software Produktions GmbH). A bunch of dragons need riding in action the role-playing fantasy Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern (2001 Ubi Soft Entertainment) while some tripods need racing in the futuristic Killer Loop (1999 VCC Entertainment). Lastly, in memory of the recently passed Meatloaf we have the original game based on The Rocky Horror Show (1985 On-Line Entertainment & Druidcrest Ltd). Enjoy!

TOP 10 MOVIES OF 2021

 

 

Cinema is back! Kinda. I may not have had as many trips to an actual theatre as I would've done pre-pandamic, but I still managed a handful of truly entertaining outings. Despite their doors opening, most of what I saw were innings, viewed at home on streaming platforms or Blu-Ray. The majority of distractions from real life happened on Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime and on the whole, I'd say it's been a pretty good year. Good enough for me to ramble about my Top 10 favourites in the following post which you can read after the jump...

TOP 10 GAMES OF 2021

 

 

It's time to put my hat into the ring of what is the best games of the past year! The Great Pause went beyond a mere pandemic and into what I now call The Great Upheaval. Corporate, political and societal strife dominated the news globally, while I'm sure health, financial and mental woes hit many people personally. I know it did me.

Thank the gods for games, eh! Entertaining distractions from strife and woes. Despite all the hardships, I think I've managed to play all of the heavy-hitters my hardware can handle this past year, and some lesser-known gems. THE CHRISTMAS CATCH-UP ROUND-UP

The newest video on the Collection Chamber YouTube channel talks about 5 of the 15 games I reviewed during the run up to Christmas. You can watch it below, but I've also collated those games in one easy post for those that may have missed any.

THE CHRISTMAS CATCHUP - THE FESTIVE FINALE

In the sage words of a singing Wizzard; IT'S CHRISTMAAAS!!! And with that comes the last entry of my Christmas Catch-up; Lemmings - or a compilation of the original Lemmings Trilogy (1991-2000 Psygnosis). Included in the massive bumper package along with the first game is Oh No! More Lemmings, Lemmings 2: The Tribes and The All New World of Lemmings (aka Lemmings Chronicles). Not to mention the oh-so-festive themed demos the future-GTA-developers put out back in the day. With all the console, handheld and computer ports in tow, that's 32 games in total! Whew!

Now to find time to (not) make a video about it all...

THE CHRISTMAS CATCHUP - DAY 12

On this eve of Christmas, it's finally time to tune up a game that's long been gestating in the depths of the Collection Chamber. Wheel of Time (1999 Legend Entertainment & GT Interactive) is an excellent action game with a sprinkling of strategy that topped my Top 10 FPS Hidden Gems of the 90s video a while back. I wasn't happy enough with its performance back then to release it from the Chamber, but that all changes now! If you've enjoyed the slightly clunkly, but no less compelling Amazon Prime show based on Robert Jordan's original novels, you're in for something special.
