It wasn't only modern classics that Disney adapted for their Animated Storybooks. In 1997, 101 Dalmatians became the first of their evergreen back catalogue to do so. The movie itself is a fun caper that aims for comedy over grand mythologising and stands out because of it. While this storybook is based on the 1961 original movie, it was probably chosen over other classics because of the the blockbuster live action adaptation released the previous year.
The four mini-games here have had more thought put into them, although none are particularly original. The first is a pairs matching game that uses sounds, images and words to assist you in reuniting puppies and their owners. Later on in the game you decipher codes using animal noises and travel through Cruella's mansion as both a hidden objects game and a Pac-Man like maze.
It's not just the mini-games that have improved, but also the graphics and sound design. There is a jazz soundtrack throughout the game that perfectly suits the handsomely drawn images that hark back to the 60s. Even the individual pages have very minor objectives before you can continue making it play like a playschool point-and-click adventure. Like all games in this series, it is charming, educational and almost essential for anyone with rugrats.
These custom installers exclusive to The Collection Chamber uses DOSBox running Microsoft Windows 3.1 to get the games working on modern systems. Tested on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Thank you so much! I've been looking for it for too long! It runs perfect on Windows 10. I only have a question, when I clicked "download" there are to files on the carpet, I downloaded both of them tho I only used the .exe file to install, can I delete de other file which extension is .D01? Or should I keep it?
ReplyDeleteThanks again
I'm glad you like it! I think I'll put some more Disney titles up in the New Year:)
DeleteThe two files that you download are the installers, which are separated into chunks for an easier download. All files are needed - placed in the same folder - to install the game. You safe to delete the downloaded files (which begin with "Install") once you've installed the game.
How can we play this on windows 11?
Deletei have it installed on windows 11 and it works fine!
DeleteI don't understand, how can I play this game ?
ReplyDeleteI downloaded those two files but it neither working nor opening..
Help please ?
(silly anon from before)
ReplyDeleteokay nevermind I got it working :)
Thanks a lot for publishing this btw 1!
Hi I downloaded both files and every time I get to 74% it tells me the game can't be installed. What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteHello Sweet Pea. I've just tested these files and while it does pause briefly at 74% due to a large file, it still makes it to the end eventually. Try downloading the files again to see if that's any better.
DeleteMine does the same thing - i've re-downloaded the files three times but it always pauses and then crashes at 74%.
DeleteHello and sorry for the problems you're having. I'm not sure what's causing it as I have been unable to replicate it, even when downloading the files again.
DeleteJust in case, I'm going to re-pack and re-upload the files to see if that helps at all. This will be uploaded in a couple of hours so be patient. Let me know if it works.
Hello! Did you find out the cause of the problem of 74 percent? My download also crashes :(
DeleteIs it the download or the installation? If it's the latter, you'll need to download both files and have them be in the same folder before running the .exe file.
DeleteHi! You have to download both files (into the same folder), then your problem will be solved! :)
DeleteThanks, brings back childhood memories :)
ReplyDeleteIt works great on Windows 10! Thanks man for this and for your whole blog! It makes our good old memories live again!
ReplyDeletehi!! i have the spanish version but, i cant play....you cant help me?
ReplyDeleteI can, though I have no way of testing it. First, create a bin/cue iso of your CD using IsoBuster/Alcohol 120%/you're choice of program. Place these files in the CD folder from my installer, keeping the same naming convention and replace. If all goes according to plan it should hopefully work.
DeleteIf not, a virtual reinstallation is in order. Open DOSBOX.conf in notepad and scroll to the bottom. Place a # in front of the last two lines and save. Run the executable and type WIN to enter Windows 3.1 cleanly. Use the FILE MANAGER in PROGRAM MANAGER to access the CD & HDD files. Remove the # from the conf to automate starting the game (though change folder location if necessary).
All of my installers are focused on English ('cos that's what I am) so I won't be uploading multi-language versions I'm afraid (unless an EU version easily allows for it). However, if you are successful, let me know how and I'll add it to the FAQ.
Oh my gosh! If you could make an iso of that and share it, that would be really amazing. I've been looking for the spanish version for months and I haven't been able to find it.
Deletei want the spanish version, can you help me?
DeleteSorry, I only work with English language versions.
DeleteI have Version Portuguese
DeleteOoh, nice! I used to play this game when it used to be in my library and I loved it! :D
ReplyDeleteDoes this game work on Windows 8 computers, just wondering?
Hello Sailor! It should do, though I've never has Windows 8.
DeleteThanks.
DeleteI'll try it tomorrow and see if it works.
Bit of an update. I tried it and it works great, thanks for posting the download link! :D
DeleteThere is a way to install this on portuguese?
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid all of my installers are in English and so other languages are not supported. It's possible you may be able to swap out the ISO in the CD folder, but I'm not entirely sure it will work.

DeleteNice Blog Post !
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your messages! There's more to come
DeleteAMAZING! Thank you so so much for uploading this!!! Really! It's so simple to install and that's a big Plus in my case, because i'm really bad at installing things with a lot of folders and others bits and pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove this post so much
Thanks! Ease of use is my mantra here.
Deletehallo, i am so happy that it started but the mouse doesn't work... what schould i do?
ReplyDeleteHello. I've just done a quick test of and the mouse is working is working. Try re-installing to see if that helps.
DeleteHello dear , thank you so much for putting this out there , so many childhood memories , but when i download it and it goes all the way so i click exit to start playing , nothing happens , and on my desk there is only uninstall DASD , what should i do ?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like it didnt install properly. Make sure both files are in the same folder before installing, and try running the .exe as administrator. Perhaps intalling it to somewhere other than Program Files will help too.
DeleteCheck the file sizes with the ones mentioned in the post to make sure it completed downloading/installed correctly too.
OMG i wasn't thinking about them since years . I loved them when i was lilltle <3 It's so amazing that you uploaded them here .I could cry :D
ReplyDeleteStill i would like to know is there a way i could play them in my nativ language (German) I mean do you haven an idea where i could get the German text/voice files etc ?? Any Idea ? I would love to show them to Kids or just be nostalic <3
I've no idea where to get the German version from. If you have the ISO and replace the one from my installer with it, it might work. Can't guarantee it though.
DeleteYou could also install it from scratch using my installer as the basis. Edit the text at the end of the dosbox.conf to not link to the game, enter the emulated Windows 3.1 and install it afresh that way.
Thank you so much! I played this game when I was a kid and had already searched through a lot of websites, I finally found it, you are incredible!

ReplyDeleteIs there any version of this i can play on my mac?
ReplyDeleteSorry, Mac is not supported I'm afraid. It uses DOSBox which can run on Mac OS from what I can gather (https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/DOSBox_and_Mac_OS_X), but the installer program is Windows only.
DeleteHi, thank you for posting this I loved it so much as a child. I was able to download and install both files, and the game is up and running and everything, but for some reason I can't move the mouse to click on anything. The only thing that triggers anything is the left and right buttons or the space bar. I'm on my laptop with a touch pad and touch screen right now, do you think it'll work if I plug in a mouse maybe?
ReplyDeletePlease help me!
This music in this game has the EMU Proteus Module on it
ReplyDeleteis this safe to download?
ReplyDeleteIt runs completely fluent on Windows 10, thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI came across the original CDRom in my pile of "things to sort out" and it wouldn't play on my Windows 10 PC, so am very impressed with Collection Chamber's version which does run very well! It's fun to be able to play the mini games again or follow the story. Thank you Collection Chamber
ReplyDeleteThanks for making this happen. Worked perfectly :)
ReplyDeleteHey it's in bin and cue and I can't translate
ReplyDeletethe game
Thank you for the fabulous and SIMPLE installation process! I've been fighting with .bin and .cue files all afternoon before I gave up and came to your site, where I was able to download everything hassle free. Hoping to use this with my class later this year, this is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this!!! I wanted to play this with my three year old, but do not have a disc drive on my new laptop. The old laptop didn't accept the game anymore, but now I have finally introduced the game to her due to this website. She absolutely loves it! We've actually downloaded more of the Storybooks, ones that I did not play as I child. It's still fun when you're 33 ;) Thanks again for bringing back childhood memories!
ReplyDeleteBig problem I'm having is that the game doesn't have the full window open up. As soon as Dosbox opens, I'm stuck with not being able to see the full game. It's as though it's cut off about 1/3 or more of the page. I'm on Windows 11
ReplyDeleteNot sure what's going on here. Just did a test and it's fine my end. Try changing some of the compatibility settings on the Run.exe or shortcut file. Right-click - Properties - Compatibility - Change DPI settings. Tick the first box "Use this setting to fix scaling problems..." and the second "Override high DPI scaling behavior." See if that helps.
DeleteI can't get this game to work on windows 11.
ReplyDeleteI never comment on anything, but I’m here in 2023 to say a big THANK YOU! Your file is the only one that worked for me!! I can’t thank you enough. Now I will download all the storybooks you have here. Your method is awesome! My next goal is to try to apply your method to my Portuguese iso file somehow (since Portuguese is my first language). But I’m already super happy and my 5-year-old son will “visit my childhood” thanks to you. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the experience, i've played so much when i was a child. Its a new experience because is in english and i played the PT-BR version, if you are interest in made a version with this version,
