CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN - THE FESTIVE FINALE

It's Christmas y'all! And if you've followed the site for the past five years, you know that means one thing - Lemmings! It's become such a tradition now that I think I'll truly be sad when I've run out of games in the series to mark the occasion. But not yet! This Christmas we have The Adventures of Lomax (Psygnosis, Inc), a side-scrolling platformer that's quite the departure from the logic puzzles those blue-clothed rodents have been known for. But it's still a good one, so if you can step away from the eggnog and Christmas pudding, give it a go by heading on over after the jump.

Stick with me into the New Year where I'll be giving you the run down of the movies, TV shows and game that have been hogging my screens this past year before we get back into retro PC gaming proper. And if you can, show some festive appreciation by joining my Patreon, offering a PayPal donation or sharing the word by following me on my social medias including Instagram and BlueSky which I recently joined. It'll help me keep doing what I do.

I'm off for some mince pie and mulled wine. Merry Christmas!!!!

CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN - THE FESTIVE FINALE

At this point, Lemmings and Christmas go hand in hand. This is the fourth year in a row where I've celebrated those green-haired rapscallions on Christmas Day, so I'm continuing that tradition with Lemmings Revolution (2000 Psygnosis Ltd). It's one of the lesser known entries, only ever being released on Windows PCs, but it is one of the better ones. After the experimentation of Lemmings 3D and Paintball, it's nice to come back to a more traditional approach. Cosy even. In my eyes, it's the perfect gift for Christmas!

I'll be back in the New Year with my annual retrospectives on the one just passed. It's been a good year for both movies and games, so check out my Top 10s whenever it is I get around to posting them. Beyond that, the Monthly 5 games will return on the last day January as normal but I'm sure you've got enough to be playing with until then.

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!

CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN - THE FESTIVE FINALE

It's finally Christmas Day, and with that comes the final entry in the Christmas Countdown. And it wouldn't be Christmas without some Lemmings, would it? Lemmings Paintball (1996 Psygnosis) is one of those spin off games that completely changes the formula, yet somehow still manages to feel like a natural progression of its predecessors. There are no Xmas-themed add-ons this time round, by many levels have that unmistakable snow-covered landscape of a winter wonderland.

Whatever you celebrate this time of year, I hope you have a good one. I'll be back in the new year with my annual rundown of the modern stuff I've been playing and watching this past year so keep an eye out for that.

Until then... Merry Christmas!

THE CHRISTMAS CATCHUP - THE FESTIVE FINALE

In the sage words of a singing Wizzard; IT'S CHRISTMAAAS!!! And with that comes the last entry of my Christmas Catch-up; Lemmings - or a compilation of the original Lemmings Trilogy (1991-2000 Psygnosis). Included in the massive bumper package along with the first game is Oh No! More Lemmings, Lemmings 2: The Tribes and The All New World of Lemmings (aka Lemmings Chronicles). Not to mention the oh-so-festive themed demos the future-GTA-developers put out back in the day. With all the console, handheld and computer ports in tow, that's 32 games in total! Whew!

Now to find time to (not) make a video about it all...

Merry Christmas!

MONTHLY 5 - December 2020

https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/animaniacs-game-pack.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/delta-v.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/karma-curse-of-12-caves.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/lemmings-3d-winterland.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/nightmare-in-toy-factory.html

Just in time for say good riddance to 2020, here are December's selection of PC games to keep you occupied. There's the mini-game collection of Animaniacs Game Pack (1997 Funnybone Interactive), some hi-octane shooting in Delta V (1993 Bethesda Softworks), a historic puzzle solving adventure in Karma: Curse of the 12 Caves (1995 Discis Entertainment), histrionic puzzle solving in Lemmings 3D + Winterland (1995 Psygnosis Ltd) and some Christmas hijinks in Nightmare in the Toy Factory (1997 Anglia Multimedia).

There is one update for this month too - Curse of Enchantia from Core Design. It was one of my earlier installers so I've updated to the newest version of DOSBox and made sure it is completeable. And I had to go through that annoying cliff walk multiple times just to make sure :)

Beyond testing this classic adventure, I've been spending more time with family than I usually would - it has been Christmas after all. And if any year is going to make you appreciate them more, it's 2020. As such, I've struggled to find time for the Chamber, so please be patient if you've contacted me and are still waiting for a reply - I aim to get back to you.

This also means that there are no videos for this month I'm afraid, but I do aim to ring in the first few weeks of the new year with my annual Top 10 rundown extravaganza! I'll see you all soon for that, and until then have a merry New Year and Happy Gaming!
