MONTLY 5 - May 2024

https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/an-american-tail-animated-moviebook.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/cruise-for-corpse.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/death-drome.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/offensive.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/vigilance-on-talon-v.html

So, April may have been a bust - in terms escapees from the Collection Chamber that is - but there's plenty of newly uncovered convicts once again seeing the light of day in May. Life tends to have a way of getting in the way of life, but I've managed to gather five more games to see you into June.

Pick of the month is a classic point-and-click adventure from the folks behind Flashback and Another World called Cruise for a Corpse (1991 Delphine Software). An American Tail: Aniamated MovieBook (1998 Universal City Studios, Sound Source Int & MCA Music Publishing) continues on from last time's The Land Before Time to provide another educational title for the little 'uns. For a bombastic multiplayer arena shooter, why not give the highly underrated Death Drome (1997 Viacom International Inc) a go. Or perhaps some wargaming is what you're after? If so, try the somewhat forgotten war strategy Offensive (1996 Ocean of America). Lastly, there's Vigilance on Talos V (1996 Square Wheel Studios Inc), a decent Metroidvania for PCs that way, way more Metroid than 'Vania.

That's it for this time. Hopefully I can get it together to post something for the end of June. Until then, happy gaming!

5 GAMES FOR JANUARY 2019

https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/airborne-ranger.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/dusk-of-gods.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/jumanji-jungle-adventure-game-pack.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/la-blasters.html https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/wwf-in-your-house.html

In the first of my batch of monthly mini-reviews, we have a variety of gamestyles to keep you busy. There's the action-strategy of Airborne Ranger, some Norse god role playing in Dusk of the Gods, some mini-game shenanigans in Jumanji: A Jungle Adventure Game Pack, some explosive combat racing in L.A. Blaster and to top it off, why not beat some wrestlers up in WWF: In Your House.

SPECIAL FORCES

While most strategy titles ask for Mensa levels of thinking and concentration, I tend to get the most enjoyment out of the simpler games in the genre like Cannon Fodder. Special Forces (1992, Sleepless Knights) looks like it could have been one of these simpler titles, but to actually play it is anything but.

THEATRE OF DEATH

Theatre of Death may sound like a macabre game going by the title alone, but this Psygnosis published game from the early 90s is as lighthearted in tone as it's light in gameplay.

POWERMONGER

Out of all of the great God games designed by the legendary Peter Molyneux, Powermonger seems to get the least amount of love. While the likes of Populous have been given a second lease of life through digital distribution, this strategy war game is nowhere to be found which is a shame as I think it's one of Bullfrog's best from their early years...
