DISNEY'S ANIMATED STORYBOOK: THE LION KING

The Lion King was the first game in the series. When it became apparent that the movie would be a success, Disney decided to commission this game to be released in time for Christmas that same year. It only took 6 months to create the game and while it does have its shortcomings, it is quite an impressive feat.

The graphics are less impressive than later installments, with a lower resolution. There is also a lot less to do. The story is truncated, with a heavy focus on the young Simba segments. As soon as he grows up, the mini-games stop and it rushes to the end.

It's obvious that the game is aimed for the very young as the games included here are the simplest of all the entries. The first sees you sneak up on Zazu standing still as he looks around. There are a few rocks scattered around to give the illusion of extra difficulty but it means nothing. The second is a connect the dots picture game. Click on the stars in the sky to make picture of random animals. Lastly there's a bug catching game where you click on the slow-moving insects to add them to Timon's food leaf.

Perhaps by virtue of being the first, this is also the worst in the series. It nevertheless entertains the very young target age perfectly, with some great animation and storytelling to keep the adults from numbing their brains.

  1. Now i have downloaded all the files for this one, which is just one download and at 60% again it says:

"Disney's Animated Storybook- The Lion King has not been totally installed because of the following reason:

HDD/WINDOWS/SYSTEM/TIMESBI.TFF: This file contains invalid data. (error 11FB)

You will have to run this utility again to completely install Disney's Animated Storybook- The Lion King"

Yet i have downloaded all files needed. So is there any way to fix this?

    1. Hello Josh. I'm not seeing any problems here so I know the file itself OK.

Try downloading it again, it might not have downloaded properly especially if you've used a download manager (4Shared doesn't seem to like them). You can also see if installing to a different folder (other than Program Files) or running as administrator might help.

    2. well then explain to me which download manager i need to use, because when i open it up, that is the only download manager that has it. Also i have tried installing it to a different file. So i'm sorry to say, but it has to be the file because i have gotten the same message everytime i use it.

    3. Hello, sorry you're still having problems. The download manager that tends to have problems would be programs external to the default one for your browser. For example, I use EagleGet with a lot of sites yet it has problems with 4shared. Firefox's own is OK.

I'm not the best at troubleshooting so can only go by what I experience myselft. However, a few people seem to be having problems with this file which I cannot seem to replicate. I'm going to repack and re-upload shortly.

  2. Next thing Disney should do is add "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Aladdin" to the Animated Storybook collections. In fact, "Aladdin" is the only non "Princess" movie to have a princess.

The fun and games stopped as soon as he became an adult. Sounds like real life. How fitting.
