REQUEST LIST

I periodically keep track of all of the games that have been requested which you can see below. As with all requests, there's no guarantee I'll touch any of these let alone get them working. Those that I've tried and failed will also be mentioned.

Due to the number of requests I get, I may not respond to each and every one of them individually. I tend to at least read them all anyway so keep them coming, though. I'm always up for discovering new games.

Games that are listed as 'Working. Not fully tested' mean I've only gone so far as getting it to launch. A very brief play at the most. These are subject to change if and when errors pop up later in the game.

Fulfilled requests and those which are now sold will be removed from the list.

    1. I recall these have been mentioned before. I must have missed them when updating my spreadsheet. I have the ISOs but not done anything with them.

  2. I don't know if it's been mentioned before, or even if I was the one requesting the it, but I'd really like to see the Starship Troopers FPS fixed up for modern systems. Also, thank you so much for Star Wars Droidworks, that was an old childhood favorite that I finally finished because you made it run. That really made my month.

    1. I have the Strategy from 2000 game working well enough and have been meaning to put it up for some time. Just need to play the darn thing - it's not my favourite genre tbh. I'm not familiar with the FPS

  3. I am surprised this isn;t on the list but: Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego (1997) alternatively called Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase Through Time. I know I have tried many ways and vms to get it to work and I had it going once a long time ago but I haven't been able to get it since.

  4. I'm so happy to see my requests Elite Heli Squad (2005), Extreme Assault (1997) and Need for Speed 2: SE (1997) still on the list. :)

I'd also like to add another driving game to your list if it's okay - Rally Challenge (1997) https://www.old-games.ru/game/screenshots/2759.html

PS: may I point out that SEGA Rally Championship (1997) already has a neat version released here: https://archive.org/details/srally1_portable

  8. I was going to suggest Vampire Diaries but I see it's already on the list. It's an interesting FMV game from the nineties and it is much sought after. Otherwise, it would be lovely to see Connections on here - a most enjoyable game and one of the better "edutainment" titles I have played; it was a Win 3.1 game. Also, Mummy: Tomb of the Pharaoh with Malcolm McDowell would be nice as something of a companion piece to Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster. Thanks for all you have done here. It is much appreciated.

  10. You guys should put Beast and Bumpkins up. Not for me but for others. Its a very obscure RTS game just before Age of Empires released by EA Games in Europe and Australia only. It works native under Win10 with DXwnd. A very unique game not documented very much on the internet too, not many people would of played this. Has alot of character similar to the way Theme Hospital does.

    1. I have heard of this. Played the demo back in the day. I honestly though it was available to but on GOG or Steam so I looked past it, but I'll add it to the request list

      Delete
    2. Yeah I only played the demo back in the day, took me ages to find it lately. Not being released in the states obviously limited it audience. But yeah doubt it will ever go on GOG or Steam due to the fact it was never released in the USA. Its a hard and challenging game that holds up well gameplay wise to this day. Download it and review it! Was a Windows 95 game and came on alot of demo discs back in the day. Im only half way through and it gets pretty challenging.

  11. One of the few good tactical shooters which was a console exclusive was Ghost Recon 2, really was great that running on PC with M+KB support or even just controller would be fantastic to see if you ever get a chance and clear the backlog :) Cheers.

  12. Can you please try to get Gadget: Past as Future and Necrobius working? Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I can't resist sticking my nose in here. See the link on the right to Zomb's Lair? If you click that link, you'll find a working version of Gadget: Past as Future for modern systems.

I know Zombeaver has said he wants to avoid overlap with the Collection Chamber. If Biffman also wants to avoid overlap, then as well as Gadget, I should point out that Blue Heat wouldn't need to be on this list either, as it is also in Zomb's Lair.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not a hard and fast rule. I know Zombeaver has released some titles I'd already put up here. I suspect Gadget may be here at some point too, 'cos I really wanna play it and I might as well write about it too. L-Zone too as that would complete Haruhiko Shono trilogy with Alice: An Interactive Museum.

      Delete
    2. Good plan! I had forgotten that you told me about L-Zone on the Alice page, over a year ago! Yes, it would be good to do all of them. Zombeaver has done both versions of Gadget (the original - Gadget: Invention, Travel and Adventure - and the remake - Gadget: Past as Future), but I can't work out how to save in the original version and how to properly quit in the remake version. I should probably tell him these problems, I suppose.

    2. Aye, such an underrated game. I played the hell out of it on my PS1 back in the day. I hope you manage to get it up and running one day.

Great site, by the way. I had to give the two Goosebumps games a download. Such a nostalgia hit. Cheers.

    3. So I've got Hail to the King up and running well, but am I missing something? The game seems *terrible* based on my time with it so far. I don't quite understand the hubbub haha. The combat seems very bad and tedious, and there's a lot of it. I love the Evil Dead series and I love survival horror so I feel like I'm squarely in the target demographic, but hoo boy I'm really not feelin' this one. Will probably still release it but man...

      Delete
    4. Alright, it's up now for anyone interested: https://www.zombs-lair.com/evil-dead-hail-to-the-king

My opinion didn't change a whole lot although it at least gets a bit better in the second half. The combat just really doesn't do it for me *shrug*

I've owned it on Ps1 back as a child, I believe there is a PC version from around 2001, but I'm yet to find it online, let alone find out if it even works.

  32. Hello!
I've been busy downloading gems from here as well as isos from archive.org (what a treasure chest!), mostly edutainment software like Reader Rabbits, Jump Start etc. because I would like my kid to enjoy a good learning experience without the nasty monetization attempts of many modern smartphone apps... anyway, long story short, half the software doesn't work in compatibility mode or even my Windows 95 VMWare machine for various reasons... since your request list is very long, could you maybe consider writing a few blog entries on how you go about setting things up; it might be a good alternative if I'd know where to start (DOSBox highly confuses me, I must say). Help would be highly appreciated, but you have already done a lot with this website, thank you!!

There's lots of info here: https://gaming.trekcore.com/dominionwars/

But it's a huge pain to get it running. I was only able to successfully launch and get into gameplay on a Windows 7 machine using this workaround: https://www.fleetops.net/forums/startrek/play-ds9-dominion-wars-on-modern-hardware-12653?p=206985#p206985

  60. Back again with a game that I think is a challenge: King of the Hill for PC. This game from 2000 is essentially a mini-game collection and simple Arlen neighborhood simulation, as well as hunting simulation. It's also built in Shockwave which adds a layer of technical complexity since it seems to only specifically work in Win98 VMs.

But the real trick with this one is that it will not run without a physical disc in a physical CD-ROM drive. The ISO is not enough. If you ever decide to tackle it, I'd gladly donate a physical copy with manual toward the effort.

I have also seen reports of people running it with the patch and DX-Wind.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I haven't tried it with DxWnd yet, but the game does work perfectly in DOSBox DAUM+Windows 95. The disks don't merge into one as different important files are named the same and the have to be read from the same drive. I might go back to it using DOSBox-X as that supports disk swapping using Ctrl-F4 when running Windows 95 while DAUM doesn't.

  70. First of all, thanks for the wonderful site!

I'd like to add a very obscure game that has me intrigued: "Avarice: The Final Saga". It's an adventure game from 1996 made by Dave Pottinger, who went on to be a lead developer on the Age of Empires and Age of Mythology series. Seems it was highly ambitious and was billed as "the Myst killer" and "arguably the most advanced adventure game ever developed for the PC on any platform". Thing is, it's only for OS/2, so there might be a challenge to making it work.

    https://www.legendsworld.net/adventure/game/10178
    https://www.stardock.com/products/avarice/

And another one, slightly less obscure: "Skyborg: Into the Vortex", an adventure made by the trading card company Skybox. I haven't played it, but it seems like an interesting oddity: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyborg:_Into_the_Vortex

    1. I haven't looked into MAC OS emulation too deeply yet, but there a number of games I want to try that are exclusive to it - Avarice being one of them. I hear Basilisk II is the best bet from what I can tell.

      Delete
    2. If I'm not mistaken, Avarice is for IBM's OS/2, not Mac, so it would be even harder to make it work, I'm not even sure emulation for that exists. I've tried Basilisk II for some Mac-only games (the Refixion series from Synergy Inc) and it works quite well, but I think it'll be quite annoying to package games with it like you do with other non-Mac games here, as it's not very user-friendly. Luckily, ScummVM is working on supporting games from the Director engine, so some day many of those Mac games will be easier to play.

Can you please do a request for me? There's this game called War Gods, it's a fighting game originally released for Arcades in 1996 (and in 1997 for PC and consoles). I cannot get the PC version to work because the installer is incompatible on modern Windows systems, I tried what's written on the PCGamingWiki article but I still get the same error (as if I didn't do anything)!

  72. Hi Biffman, thanks for all of the work you have put into getting these games playable again. The collection chamber is a godsend for retro pc gaming. I'd like to request a game to add to the collection.

Fade to Black (1995) by Delphine Software. The sequel to the extremely popular Flashback. I was very surprised to find that this game is not available on any digital storefront. At the moment it seems it has been lost to time.

    Thanks again.

    1. Me too. I was sure it was in my GOG library so I've deliberately ignored it. I bought the game new when it first hit the EA Classics budget line and I liked it at the time. 73. Could you possible do One Must Fall: Battlegrounds? I've been trying to get the full game working since yesterday, but it's been a complete crapshoot thanks to the DRM not working on modern systems.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hi Biffman, thank you for all the hard work you put on archiving old games. I have 3 requests:

First off, let's start with the weakest game:

    XS (1996)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XS_(video_game)

It's not a very good game I heard, but I'd really wish if you can make a repack because I couldn't get it to run on DOSBox no matter what, I have downloaded the files somewhere from various sites and none of them worked. I heard that it's because you need to install it to the C: drive, I tried that but no luck.

This is probably the strongest game in this request:

    Codename Eagle (1999)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codename_Eagle

I couldn't get it to run because the installer doesn't do anything, it has the same issue as Rebel Moon Rising where if you launch the installer and click on "install," nothing happens! The installer just closes itself with nothing after that.

And lastly, the game that I want the most:

    Assassin 2015 (1996)

    https://www.mobygames.com/game/assassin-2015

Please, if you had to make a repack of only ONE of those 3, let it be this game, I care a lot about graphics and this game has mind blowing graphics for its time, I would go as far as call it "the Crysis of 1996."

    ReplyDelete

    1. XS is already on the site, though I admit I never play mulitplayer.

  75. ZPC would be great to have a working version:

I played the demo back then and was fascinated by it's graphic style.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm very happy to find working versions of some more obscure early 90's 3d-shooters like Krazy Iwan or Blam! here. There is one further game that fits very well into that category I would love to be able to play as it was meant to be played: NECRODOME. The shooter made you switch between a tank-like futuristic vehicle and walk-by shooting, quite unique for its time and stood out that way. The game itself isn't even that hard to run on modern systems with some tweaks, but unfortunately it's AFAIK impossible to run it with the original videos on 64bit windows, because it relies on SMACK/SMK video files to run them which are not compatible with Win1064. If you ever find the time to figure out a way to make that game work as intended on modern systems, it would be absolutely awesome.

  77. ALMOST going on 20 years back from 2004 is ALIAS, a game based on J.J. Abrams' series starring Jennifer Garner. While the game has largely been forgotten the programme remains an 00s classic. ( https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/alias )

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hi Biffman! Can you please hurry and make a proper repack for Heavy Gear 1? I know it's already in this list, but I want to play it so badly because it is very unstable on modern systems. I have 2 main issues with it:

    1. No soundtrack even when the CD is inserted (I even tried installing it from an online copy of the CD but no luck, game works but without music)

    2. Black squares on smokes and other effects.

If you are experiencing blue/black squares during FMVs, someone described the issue here:
    https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=888824#p888824

I downloaded a codec for my PC and then the FMVs worked.

The other issues I just can't get the hang of them. You can find HG1 on MyAbandonware.

I hope you can do your best my friend.

    Limbo of the Lost
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost

This game is infamous for being full of assets stolen from..... everyone. There's videos and articles about it. A point and click adventure game, literally every sound effect and graphical item in the game, other than the character models and voice work, is stolen from something else.

This game NEEDS to be preserved. It never ran all that good in the first place, unsurprisingly, but now its getting near impossible to play, what with all the crashing. Somebody out there needs to ensure that this game is preserved, somehow, for future generations to study, and more importantly, point and laugh at.

I would have just a very humble request: can you add the Smart Games Challenge games? I like the first one the best, but any of them would do just fine. The problem is that, while I played these games before, I can no longer do this on my new Win 10 laptop, and the older computer is not functioning anymore. The problem with Smart Games is that they don't run on anything older than a Win 7 (I tried). I am requesting this because, while other games that are requested here are available on other sites and work as "repacks", I have not found any version of SMG that works on a modern platform, so I really thing such games should be a priority. Cheers, and may this site live forever!

  103. Great stuff dude. Lately I've been in the mood for cyberpunk themed games and would love to see a modernized version of the Philip K. Dick based UBIK from 1998 for Windows, and the 1988 Neuromancer for MS-DOS by Interplay. Shadowrun for the SNES would be dope too.

  104. Hi, could you please add the D.A. Pursuit of Justice series to the list? There are three games, but I only managed to find the third one (I think this is the 2001 remake):

It's a shame that there's so little info about these games online. It'd be really cool if you could find the other two cases. Thanks a lot!

  105. Been following this site for a long time now. Incredible work! Was hoping to see Emperor: Battle for Dune at some point. Definetely a long lost gem for fans of the RTS genre when it was in its prime. I appreciate your time and work.

  106. Hey, just found this site recently and LOVE what you're doing here. Everything I've downloaded runs buttery smooth. Because of this, my request is for a game called "Safecracker" released in 1997. I have it running via PCem, but the sound stutters a little bit in places. If it could get the same installer treatment as your other downloads, that would be HEAVEN. Keep up the awesome work!

  110. Hi Biffman, I have a new request for you think about. Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller. It's not on any digital stores which is a little surprising since Bloodnet came out first, was made by the same company and is available on Steam and GOG.

  111. Hello, first of all thanks for repacking all of these rare and otherwise lost to time games. This one one deserves a new chance too, Game in question is the almost completely lost ¨in pursuit of greed¨ The source port of the game was almost unplayble when I tried it but perhaps releasing it here running on dosbox would bring it back in it`s original glory.

  112. Please consider Hellcab. I have fond memories of this Win3.1 game, and I would like to play it properly, as even when I played it on Win95 it was a buggy mess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdTOUWEUIRM

  113. Hi Biffman, would you mind adding both of the Roly-Polys games to the chamber? (Roly-Polys no Nanakorobi Yaoki, Roly-Polys no Sekai Ryokou) They're made by Osamu Sato, the same guy who brought us the Eastern Mind series.

  114. I'd love to see Apollo 18: The Moon Missions make an appearance. It's an obscure Apollo flight simulation from 1999. Actually it's not much, it's mainly pressing buttons with some arcade sequences, but it has a lot of lore.

  115. I'd like to see the obscure DOS game "Flipout", nice breakout style game with an interesting art direction

  120. Nile: Passage to Egypt (Discovery Channel, 1995) was a pretty slick playable documentary, capstoned by a match of the ancient board game "Senat" against King Ramses II! Had me so enthralled that I still have (most of) a physical Senat set tucked away~
