Most games that hold the WWF license aren't particularly good. There are a few, but with the sheer multitude of them, it can be hard to find the diamond in the rough. This early example from 1991 is average at best but there is a surprising amount of vitriol surrounding it online. I remember a very acerbic review on the Underdogs back in the day, going so far as to label it a 'Real Dog'. Ouch.

In actuality, WWF Wrestlemania is simply your standard licensed fare from the time. In fact, it may even be a shave ahead of the average. There are only 3 wrestlers to choose from; Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and The British Bulldog. You can fight a number of others, but I've not played enough to know if they become playable later down the line.

Fights are a one-button affair, but I still managed to pull off a variety of moves successfully. Most of the iconic attacks are there including jumping from the corner of the rings and bouncing off the ropes (they probably have actual names, but I'm no Wrestling fan).

Out of the three ports in the package, the Amiga version is the best while the DOS version is best avoided (that's the one referred to as a Real Dog). The Commodore 64 is also a faithful port much more so than the PC one, even though that took an extra year to develop.

If you like WWF, it's worth a go but it ultimately the folks at Twilight and Ocean didn't do much to make it stand out.
