'Tis April, and it's time to go back to a Monthly quintet of oldschool PC gaming. Fancy some action? Check out the futuristic shooter Eliminator (1998, Psygnosis). How about a visit to a spooky old mansion? Try Escape from the Haunted House (1997, New Media Generation). A puzzle-heavy action RPG? We got you covered with Power Sokoban (1999, Nintendo, Thinking Rabbit). Want a movie instead? Watch the interactive kind that is Quantum Gate II: The Vortex (1994 HyperBole Studios). If none of that tempts you, why not abduct some sheep to build tanks in the strangest of real-time strategies, Tankics (1999, Gremlin Interactive, DMA Design). Read on to find out more!

Thank you Biffman, great job with these obscure repacks. I love them.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteQuantum Gate II, awesome! I saw Blue Heat was on the request list as not fully tested, would LOVE to see that one!
ReplyDeleteI might just slip it up the list now that you've reminded me of its existance...
DeleteIf you can't wait, Blue Heat is on Zomb's Lair.
DeleteIn fact, I'm really wondering if I even want to escape from the haunted house, since the mansion's classical architecture along with its intriguingly artful décor seem to want to invite you to linger for more than just a little while. In addition, riddles and ghosts have never been a drawback. So I say thank you for this pleasantly bizarre little gem (as it appears) which found its way to you over some twisted paths, as you described it so worth reading. In fact, you continue to surprise me on and on in every imaginable gaming and penmanship way! :-)
ReplyDeleteBye for now
Thomas (the one from Germany - yeah, I'm still around)
Thanks Thomas. I reckon you'll like escaping spooky haunted house.
DeleteSo if in the end I'll manage to escape the haunted yet beautiful surroundings of said spooky house, I'm gonna get down with your finely repacked Cassandra Galleries which I simply missed then and only came back to mind due to your very conveniant "Like this? Try these..." section at the end of each of your stunning features. How lucky to have found it right under that category! :-)
DeleteBye for now
Thomas
Hey CC! Ever heard about The Drowned God? Weird assventure game of the 90's, sorta Myst clone but muuuuuch crazier. That would make a great addition to your collection!
ReplyDeleteOnce again I can suggest Zomb's Lair, Drowned God is there, so if you want to play it now, the choice is ypour's. And no, I am not Zomb's PR manager.. :-), actually CC recommends this page here too.
DeleteI do try to select different games than what Zomb's Lair puts out. He's got some good stuff on there and I'd like to keep our libraries more or less unique. That being said, there are a few games he has I've been wanting to play - Drowned God among them - and if I'm gonna play it, I might as well give it the full Chamber treatment. I'm sure I'll succumb at some point.
DeleteQuantum Gate and it's prequel, The Vortex is a dream come true from appr. 27 years ago when I saw these in a local gamer magazine's ad, Thanks for your work!
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks a lot for another greats set of games Biffman.
ReplyDeleteThough I understand you are busy, and have a huge backlog of games, I hope you can one day release these games:
